SONOGRAPHY AND DIAGNOSTIC CENTRE

Adult Echocardiography and Digital X-ray in Kandivali West

Ashray Healthcare offers both adult echocardiography (2D echo) and digital X-ray services, including HSG for fertility workup, under the same roof as the sonography and pathology centre. All imaging is performed and reported by Dr. Rajul Oswal, with same-day written reports.

What We Offer

Adult Echocardiography (2D Echo)

Echocardiography uses sound waves to produce real-time images of your heart, assessing its size, pumping function, valves and surrounding structures, without radiation.

  • 2D Echocardiography: Real-time imaging of all four heart chambers, pericardium and major vessels.
  • Left Ventricular Function: Measurement of ejection fraction (EF) to quantify how effectively the heart pumps.
  • Colour Flow Doppler Mapping: Visualises direction and velocity of blood flow across valves, identifying leaks or narrowing.
  • Valve Assessment: Detailed evaluation of all four cardiac valves for structural abnormalities or dysfunction.
  • Wall Motion Analysis: Detects segments of heart muscle not moving normally, indicating prior heart attack or reduced blood supply.
  • Pericardial Assessment: Identifies fluid around the heart or pericardial thickening.

Digital X-ray and HSG

Digital X-ray delivers lower radiation doses than conventional film X-ray and produces results immediately. HSG (hysterosalpingography) is a specialised X-ray used in fertility investigations to assess tubal patency.

  • Chest X-ray: Lungs, heart size, ribs and mediastinum for pre-op clearance and respiratory workup.
  • Abdominal X-ray: Bowel gas patterns, calcification (kidney and gallstones), free air under the diaphragm.
  • Spine X-ray: Cervical, dorsal and lumbar alignment, disc space narrowing, vertebral fractures.
  • Limb and Joint X-ray: Fractures, dislocations, bone density and joint space for arthritis.
  • HSG (Tubal Patency): Assesses whether the fallopian tubes are open or blocked; also maps the internal uterine cavity for fibroids or polyps affecting fertility.

When to Get These Tests

Echocardiography

  1. Hypertension: to assess for left ventricular hypertrophy or early changes in heart function.
  2. Shortness of breath or reduced exercise tolerance with no clear respiratory cause.
  3. Chest pain workup as part of a cardiac evaluation alongside ECG and blood tests.
  4. Pre-operative assessment before elective surgery in patients with known or suspected cardiac disease.
  5. Known or suspected valve disease: monitoring of murmurs, mitral valve prolapse or aortic stenosis.

X-ray and HSG

  1. Pre-operative or pre-anaesthesia chest clearance required by your surgeon.
  2. Persistent cough, breathlessness or fever not improving with treatment.
  3. Back or neck pain following an injury or unresponsive to physiotherapy.
  4. Suspected fracture following trauma to any limb or joint.
  5. Fertility workup: HSG is indicated when trying to conceive for 12 months or more, or when prior pelvic infection or surgery raises the risk of tubal blockage.

What to Expect

For Echocardiography

No preparation required. Lie on a couch while gel is applied to the chest. The probe is moved gently across the skin. Takes 20 to 30 minutes. Written report ready same day.

For HSG

Scheduled on cycle days 7 to 12. A small catheter is passed through the cervix and dye introduced. Mild cramping similar to period pain may occur. Takes 15 to 20 minutes. Written report and X-ray images provided the same day.
