Color Doppler Ultrasound, Blood Flow Studies in Kandivali West
Color Doppler maps the speed and direction of blood flow through arteries and veins in real time, displayed as colour-coded movement on the scan image. Where standard sonography shows structure, Doppler shows function. It can reveal a blocked artery, a clot in a vein, or abnormal flow patterns before symptoms become severe.
Types of Doppler We Offer
Carotid Doppler
Assessment of the neck arteries supplying the brain. Detects plaque, narrowing and stroke risk.
Peripheral Arterial Doppler
Evaluates blood supply to the arms and legs. Used for cold limbs, pain on walking or non-healing wounds.
Renal Doppler
Measures blood flow into the kidneys. Relevant for difficult-to-control high blood pressure.
Venous Doppler, DVT Study
Detects deep vein thrombosis (blood clots) in the legs or arms, a potentially serious and treatable condition.
Obstetric Doppler
Measures flow through the umbilical artery and uterine arteries in pregnancy to monitor fetal wellbeing and placental function.
Scrotal Doppler
Assesses testicular blood supply. Critical for suspected testicular torsion and varicocele grading.
When Should You Get a Doppler Study?
- One leg is swollen, red or painful. A DVT needs to be ruled out promptly.
- Dizziness, transient vision changes or a previous mini-stroke (TIA). Carotid Doppler is a standard first investigation.
- High blood pressure that is not responding well to medication. Renal artery narrowing may be a cause.
- A high-risk pregnancy, growth restriction or reduced fetal movements. Obstetric Doppler guides management decisions.
- Pain or cramping in the legs during walking that disappears at rest (claudication).
Why Choose Ashray Healthcare
Combined Structural and Flow Assessment
Dr. Oswal reads the grey-scale anatomy and the Doppler data together, reducing the chance of missing findings.
Obstetric Doppler Expertise
Dr. Oswal holds a Fellowship in Fetal Medicine and Fetal Medicine Foundation certification (ID-276581), making fetal Doppler a specific area of depth.
No Radiation, No Contrast Required
All Doppler studies are non-invasive and do not require dye or special preparation in most cases.
What to Expect
- No special preparation is needed for most Doppler studies. Obstetric Doppler follows the same preparation as a routine pregnancy scan.
- The probe is placed over the skin with gel. No needles, no dye and no discomfort.
- Colour maps of blood flow appear on screen in real time.
- Reports are provided the same day with annotated images.
